Care Guide
Materials & Care
What your jewellery is made of
We choose materials with intention, pieces that feel good to wear, last well, and carry the quiet character of handmade work.
Murano Glass & Recycled Glass
Every bead and charm is handmade in small batches. These glass pieces bring colour, joy and a bit of alchemy to your collection. Expect slight variations in colour, texture or shape, each one is a tiny original. Saving all of our waste glass to repurpose into the Minimal Waste Collections
Everyday Gold (Gold-Plated Brass)
Our gold-plated brass pieces are chosen for their hardwearing and hypoallergenic nature. They’re crafted for real life: high-quality gold plating over a base metal you can trust. With proper care, they stay radiant for years. We will never use marketing terms such as Tarnish Resistant or Waterproof, as the only truely resistant materials are sold gold, and solid metals.
Rhodium-Plated Brass
Rhodium-plated brass offers a cool, bright silver tone with the same benefits: durable, long-wearing and hypoallergenic. Perfect for low-maintenance shine. Perfect for those who have found they are allergic to the Copper in 925 Silver.
Vintage Silver & Mixed-Metal Components
We repurpose vintage silver and metal components wherever we can. These pieces come with their own history, expect unique patinas, small imperfections and a lived-in charm.
How to care for your pieces
A few simple habits will keep your jewellery looking its best.
1. Clean gently
- Use a soft microfibre cloth to bring back shine.
- For gold-plated items: avoid chemical cleaners.
- For silver: warm soapy water works; dry immediately.
- For glass charms: wipe with a damp, soft cloth - no abrasives.
2. Wear smart
- Remove jewellery before swimming, showering, exercising or cleaning.
- Keep pieces away from perfumes, lotions, oils and chlorine.
- Daily wear is fine, just treat your jewellery like something special.
- Be careful when removing items, especially the glass pieces as if dropped they may break.
3. Store thoughtfully
- Keep pieces in a dry, clean place, ideally your original Easthope pouch or a lined jewellery box.
- Store similar metals together to avoid unwanted reactions.
- Separate items that may tangle or scratch.
4. Respect the handmade nature
Every Easthope piece is handmade and made to order. This means:
- Slight variations in size, shape, colour and finish are normal.
- These variations are part of what makes each piece unique.
